Currently we offer five Maxx fitting options:

Maxx Driver Fitting

Finding the right driver is one of the most important, yet difficult equipment decisions a player can make.  A Maxx Driver Fitting is a comprehensive 'super-fitting' designed for those looking to optimize their launch conditions off the tee.  It focuses specifically on a player's launch angle and spin rate, and optimizes those variables based on the player's driver ball speed. The ultimate goal of this fitting is to find the right combination of driver head and shaft specifications that will deliver the best overall distance and accuracy for that player.  The cost is $125 ($150 w/Brent Norton) of which $50 can be applied toward the purchase of a new driver.  The Maxx Driver Fitting is one hour and the player should bring their current driver.

Maxx iron Fitting

As with the driver, selecting and fitting irons requires collecting data on ball speed, launch and spin rates for a host of different irons.  After our ball-flight monitors collect this data, your club-fitter will help you determine which irons perform best for you and determine the specifications for the construction of the irons. The cost is $175 with $50 refundable toward the purchase of new irons/hybrids.  The Maxx Iron Fitting is 90 minutes and a player should bring their current #6 iron.

Maxx full bag Fitting

This fitting is designed for the player who wants 13 new clubs, and incorporates the elements of the Maxx Drive and Maxx Iron fitting. It excludes only the putter.  This fitting is comprised of two (2) 90-minute sessions typically with the driver and fairways in one session and the irons, hybrids, and wedges in another.  It is possible to do both sessions in one day with a scheduled break to overcome possible fatigue.  The cost is $225 with $50 refundable toward an equipment purchase.  Please bring current set of clubs.

Maxx gap Fitting

This fitting is designed for players happy with their current set of clubs but need to address how effectively the set covers different distances.  Using TrackMan, the distance the player can each club, excluding the driver, is measured.  TrackMan measures the flight distance to within 1 foot for every 100 yards.  From this data, gaps and overlaps in the set are identified.  Solutions to these distance issues are then examined and usually include bending iron lofts, replacing irons with hybrids or high lofted fairways, and bending or replacing wedges.  The cost is $125 and $50 can be applied to the purchase of new equipment.  Included in the fee is the cost of bending clubs.  The Maxx Gap Fitting is 90 minutes.

Maxx putter Fitting

After months of research and planning, Miles of Golf has added a new service to the Cluboratory, our club fitting facility.  Brent Norton has spent time in Phoenix working with Ping and their putting experts to put together a putting fitting program at Miles of Golf.  Brent has also been working with the putter experts from Odyssey, TaylorMade Rossa, and Scotty Cameron.

Finding the right putter has always been a trial and error process.  The population of putters to choose from is huge and varied, but the Maxx Putter Fitting can help a player in the selection process.  The putter fitting starts out by measuring key putting variables using the TOMI putting system: alignment at address and impact, path, rotation, shaft angle, impact spot, speed of the stroke, and tempo (see graphic below).  From this data, the club fitter can make recommendation on putter heads that typically do well with the player’s putting stroke.   The variables are continuously measured as the player tests different putters.

Using the V1 video system in conjunction with Tomi, we are able to analyze the lie angle of the putter as well as the roll of the golf ball.  Although the goal of the Maxx Putter Fitting is to choose the best putter, a player will come away with some very useful information about his or her putting stroke.  These fitting take 60 minutes and cost $100.  Twenty-five (25%) percent of the cost of the fitting can be applied to the purchase of a new putter.

Titleist/Cobra TPM Fittings

Miles of Golf is one of only three Titleist Regional Fitting Centers in the country.  As a Regional Center, Miles of Golf fits PGA Titleist Staff members to their Titleist and Cobra clubs (Titleist and Cobra are both owned by Acushnet).  Because we fit these staff members, we have all the latest fitting clubs and tools from Titleist and Cobra.  There are complete sets of irons to test and drivers with many different exotic shafts.  There is also an extensive inventory of Vokey wedges and Cameron putters to test.  Two of our staff members go to the Titleist testing and fitting center in California for special training in fitting Titleist and Cobra clubs.

The same fittings available to Titleist Staff members are also available to our customers.  The cost of the Titleist Driver Fitting Works is $100 ($150 with Brent Norton) and the Iron Fitting Works is $150 with the opportunity to apply 25% of these fees toward the purchase of Titleist or Cobra equipment.

frequently asked questions

1. Is a Maxx Fitting right for me?

Although a Maxx fitting can provide useful information for almost anyone who is interested in their launch conditions, it is really most beneficial to golfers who tend to make consistently solid shots. Because severe miss-hits will cause ball speed, launch angle and spin rate to fluctuate greatly, the numbers gathered from these types of shots will do little to provide the fitter with reliable information to make a practical and sound recommendation to the player. This does not mean you need to make perfect contact with every shot to benefit from this fitting. Occasional miss-hits are simply discarded and will not influence the resulting averages for that particular club. You also have the freedom to inform the fitter when you make a bad swing, even if the result is a fairly centered hit, in order to keep such atypical shots from skewing the results.

2. What are the differences between a Cluboratory and a Maxx Cluboratory Fitting?

First of all, both of these fittings are of exception high quality and most golfers will be satisfied with either one.  The goals are the same, to help golfers find equipment that will improve their game.

Probably the biggest difference between the two is the use of the TrackMan ball flight monitor throughout the Maxx Fittings.  It does give the club-fitters more information to help with the testing and fitting process, but it uses very expensive equipment and is time consuming so therefore more costly.  Even with this equipment, the club-fitters will still closely observe the ball in its full flight just as they do with the normal Cluboratory fitting.  For an experienced club-fitter, observing the ball flight is critically important to performing their job.  The normal Cluboratory fitting takes ball flight measurements to verify that the clubs fit.

Golfers who are really into the game and want to thoroughly examine exotic shaft options will love the Maxx Fittings.  If you have a less intense interest in the game but still want high quality clubs that fit, the normal Cluboratory fittings are perfect for you.

3. How do I sign up for a Maxx Fitting?

Simply call Miles of Golf at (877) 973-9005 or speak to someone at the sales counter in the Golf Shop, and they will schedule the fitting for you.  Once you have scheduled your Maxx fitting, we will send you an email confirming the date, time and type of fitting.  The TrackMan monitor is in very high demand, so please call if you need to change the schedule.  There is a $50 cancellation fee if you cancel less than 24 hours before your fitting.
