Our analysis took place on hole 9 at Heatherwood. A medium length par 4 from an elevated hitting position. Trackman will take level line of sight to calculate total distance (last received data) so actual distance may be greater than recorded. Competitors this year increased their average driving distance by 13 yards. How is this possible? In the past 12 months we have seen much higher launching drivers hit the market, this allows the golfer to play a lower loft and yet maintain or increase their launch angle. Lower lofted driver will allow for an increase in ball speed (up 1.5 mph ) and reduce spin (351 lower) High launch, low spin combined with an increase in ball speed equals more distance from the same swing speed.
