Rocketbladez meet the new SpeedBlade irons. Newly designed with a larger, longer Speed Pocket. The benefit of the new Speed Pocket is simple. Faster ball speeds on solid shots, as well as heel or toe shots. The new Speed Pocket combined with the lowest center of gravity TaylorMade has ever produced creates faster ball speeds and a flatter ball flight.
Just like in the previous RocketBladez irons, the advanced head structure and polymer material in the Speed Pocket is also in the new SpeedBlade. This construction and polymer insert absorbs vibration and promotes great sound and feel. Another benefit of the Speed Pocket is to create a higher flight especially on thin shots. The majority of golfers tend to make contact with the golf ball below the center line of the face. This will allow for a more flexible leading edge helping create more hang time.
EverySpeedBladehead is independently engineered and manufactured with the Speed Pocket to maximize the performance in each individual iron. This helps to optimize the trajectory, distance, control, spin, feel and sound with every club. The bending notch is also still present in the new SpeedBlade iron like it was in the RocketBladez. This makes the iron much easier to bend for loft and lie adjustments if needed.
Obviously performance and visual appeal are vital in a golf club. The Speedblade iron is progressively shaped throughout the set. The thin topline and sole in the shorter irons allow for better workability, feel and control. The longer irons have a thicker topline, and provide maximum distance. The qualities of the new SpeedBlade irons help maintain fantastic feel and sound with a powerful penetrating flight.
TaylorMade has managed the distance gaps between each iron by controlling loft, face thickness, center of gravity location, shaft characteristics, club length, and the performance of the Speed Pocket. This results in an iron set that delivers consistent gaps between each club. As driver, fairway woods, and hybrids have evolved to maximize distance, TaylorMade designed the SpeedBlade to close the gap between your longest iron and shortest fairway wood in your bag.
These stats are solely based on our testing done in the Cluboratory. Keep in mind that the ball flight characteristics will change depending on the player.

Summary of results for SpeedBlade Irons:
- Club speed was faster
- Produced faster ball speeds
- Launched the ball on a more penetrating flight
- Increased distance
In conclusion, TaylorMade has produced another fast iron that provides more distance. They were able to design an iron that has the appearance and feel of a tour style iron, while still offering forgiveness and additional distance to the majority of players. This iron will fit a wide variety of handicaps with a traditional look, plenty of forgiveness, extra distance and great feel. One thing we’ve noticed with TaylorMade irons over the past few years is they never take a step back. The SpeedBlade Irons follow that model.
