Getting ready for your Miles of Golf club fitting experience.

It’s time to upgrade your equipment and golf game, now what? Take a look at our guide for players that have never been fit.

Step 1 – Call to schedule your appointment at Miles of Golf and let the sales associate know what you would like to be fit for (i.e. driver, woods, irons, wedges, putter, or full bag). We offer two types of fittings – MAXX & BASIXX and you can discuss these with your sales associate to determine which is right for you.

MAXX Fitting:

Designed for the player looking for the most detailed, data driven fitting. Each session is conducted one-on-one with our most experienced club-fitting professionals. Maxx fittings utilize TrackMan™, the pinnacle of ball flight technology, to gather data. We then compare the data collected during the session to aid in making the best decisions about your equipment. The MAXX fitting includes a detailed report of all data points collected during the session. We consider the MAXX session as much a learning experience as it is a club fitting. Fitting fees are partially refunded back toward the purchase of the equipment for which you were fit.

BASIXX Fitting:

The BASIXX fitting covers the vast majority of the golfers in the world. It is for the player who is looking for a one-on-one session with one of our professional club fitters. Ball flight information is recorded using a Foresight GC Quad which is regarded as one of the best launch monitors in golf. A report is not included with the BASIXX fitting, but data is utilized during the session. The entire fitting fee is credited back towards the purchase of the clubs for which you were fit.

Step 2 – Preparation:

  • Bring your current clubs.
    • This allows the fitter to set a baseline on what your club is doing and what needs to change to make the new club as good as possible.
    • If you don’t have your clubs with you, a fitting can still be conducted. In this scenario, there will not be any way to measure improvement from your current equipment, but rest assured that we will get the best possible new clubs in your hands.
  • Knock the rust off before your fitting.
    • If you are coming in during the off season, please try to get your golf swing somewhere near its normal consistency. This can be done at a heated range, on a simulator or maybe even a warm weather vacation destination.

This helps ensure that the swing you bring to the fitting is similar to the swing you will have during the season. The last thing we would want to have happen is to fit you to a tendency that is not normal to your game.

  • Wear clothes that are comfortable.
    • Clothes you normally play golf in or that are just plain comfortable.
    • You will be hitting off a high-quality mat, so you can wear whatever shoes that are stable to swing in (i.e Cross trainer tennis shoes or your favorite golf shoe).
    • If you choose golf shoes, please make sure the bottoms are clean.
  • Please be on time.
    • Appointments are scheduled so that every player has the appropriate amount of time in the fitting.
    • Being late may make you feel rushed and may affect the players coming in after you.
    • Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time, so you have time to warm up and can get going right at the time of the appointment.
  • Have goals and objectives.
    • What would you like to see in potential new clubs?
      • More or less height.
      • Increased yardage.
      • Tighter dispersion and minimizing the big miss (Hook or Slice).
      • More overall forgiveness.
      • Note that all of these may not be possible.

These goals and objectives provide insight on what you experience on the golf course and how to help improve your scores and make the game more fun.

  • Be prepared to hit some balls.
    • Fittings last an hour to an hour and a half. There will be roughly 75-100 balls hit in this time.
    • Make sure your body is ready for this many swings. Try to get a good rest the night before and please do not lift weights or hit an excessive number of balls before the fitting.
    • Being fresh gives you the best opportunity to swing well and achieve the best result in the fitting.
  • Have a golf club budget.
    • You should have a basic idea of what golf clubs’ cost and what you want to spend.
    • Club pricing varies based on brand and construction.
    • The last thing the fitter wants to do is give you a club that doesn’t fit your budget.
    • Miles of Golf will get you the best club for your game and budget.
  • Try to be open minded.
    • We carry all the major manufacturers, and all make fantastic products.
    • By having a bias, you may miss out on the best fit club for your game.
    • You will hit whatever club you are interested in and many others as well.
    • Our number one goal is to find the best performing club for your game.
  • Be ready to have a blast and enjoy a great fitting experience!
    • Don’t be stressed or worried. We are club doctors and have seen it all.
